Meeting lovely people who share your interests, enjoying experiences together, going for walks in beautiful surroundings and learning something along the way – it sounds like a dream holiday at unaffordable prices.
The ‘AI and Quantum Computing’ summer excursion proves that this doesn’t have to be the case. Organised for the second time this year by the Saxon Institute for Computational Intelligence and Machine Learning (SICIM) at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, with the kind support of Siemens AG Chemnitz and IAV GmbH Chemnitz.
From 8 to 17 September 2023, the spa town of Rathen in Saxon Switzerland will provide the setting, on the one hand, for lectures and practical applications centred on the topics of artificial intelligence and quantum computing, whilst, of course, Rathen also offers ideal conditions for hiking and climbing, as well as a wide range of leisure activities.
In the run-up to the excursion, participants will prepare presentations on defined topics under the supervision of a tutor and then present them in Rathen. This not only helps them familiarise themselves with the subject matter but also provides practical experience in presentation techniques and discussion methods.

Students studying STEM subjects from the 4th semester of their Bachelor’s degree onwards can apply for one of the maximum of 15 coveted places. The deadline for applications is 1 April 2023. Thanks to the support of our industry partners, not only is participation in the excursion free of charge, but development engineers will also be sharing their expertise during presentations and in the Maker Session. Participation in the summer excursion may be recognised as part of your degree. You can find out more about the 2022 summer excursion via the following link

An information session on the summer excursion will take place on 25 January 2023 at 5.30 pm in Lecture Theatre 5-119.
