Excitement is slowly building within the organising team, as the big day is just under a week away: On 13 June at 09:00, the 24th Conference for Academic Talent will be opened by the Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Uwe Mahn, in the TV studio in Building 39.
A total of just under 150 participants have registered for the conference. Among them are early-career researchers from 22 universities and higher education institutions across Germany. Presentations covering a wide range of disciplines will be given across 12 sessions.
Some of the sessions will be chaired by academics from our institution. We are also delighted to have confirmed moderators from Harz University of Applied Sciences, Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, Jade University of Applied Sciences and Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences.
For 11 poster presenters, it’s all or nothing right from the opening event: in the ‘Poster Flash’, they have exactly one minute to introduce themselves and their topic to the audience in an engaging way and win them over.
Sixteen young researchers from Mittweida University of Applied Sciences have been included in the programme to present their research topics as talks and recently met with Professor Uwe Mahn for a group photo. The presentations from our institution are as varied and diverse as the study options in Mittweida. The topics range, for example, from wear-optimised hard nickel dispersion coatings (Nurul Amanina Binti Omar) to the development of a test bench for mid-drive motors in electrically assisted bicycles (Max Kreter) and digital advances in soft tissue facial reconstruction (Svenja Preuß) to the genetic analysis of honeybee brood with regard to their Varroa resistance-associated genes and gene regions (Tom Schmidt).
Detailed information on the individual presentations can be found in the conference programme via the link: https://www.conftool.org/nwk2024/sessions.php
Professor Uwe Mahn is looking forward to an inspiring conference: “Thinking outside the box – that is not only the motto of our conference, but also my personal aim. I want to see and experience what young researchers are working on, exchange ideas and, together with my team, make NWK24 a successful conference for everyone.”
Over the next few days, some of our early-career researchers will be presenting their work here on the ‘Focus on Research’ page. Further items on the conference programme will also be announced.
